Dr. Archer has been in the private practice of counseling at The Carpenter’s House, PC since 1984 and Director since 1986. He is licensed in the state of Alabama as a Licensed Professional Counselor (#531) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#3).
Dr. Archer Graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1971 with a BA in Mathematics and worked in the computer industry for several years. Feeling called to a different work, he returned to school to earn his Master’s in Religious Education in 1979 and was ordained to ministry in 1979 in The First Baptist Church, Longview, Texas. He earned his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Foundations in 1983 from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. In January 1984 he began his profession and ministry at The Carpenter’s House, PC. He became the director of The Carpenter’s House, PC in 1986. |

Since the beginning of the Master’s program of Marriage and Family Counseling at the University of Mobile in the 1980’s, Dr. Archer regularly taught as an adjunct professor. He has also taught many seminars and classes on a wide variety of professional and other topics. Over the years he has also served on the Boards of many local and state organizations. |
Dr. Archer maintains his spiritual journey through prayer, worship, reading, teaching, and singing in the choir. After running track for four years at the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Archer has continued to challenge himself physically and mentally in maintaining a rigorous exercise schedule. He continues to enjoy the challenges of running, hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, cycling, reading, playing the guitar, and completing the many projects associated with maintaining a 1908 home in midtown.

He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC #531) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #3) in the state of Alabama. He is also a Supervising Counselor (SC #212) for Counselors and an Approved Supervisor for Marriage and Family Therapists (S #3).
